Berzins Architects was founded in 2022 by Nick Berzins, a third generation Architect, having worked for most of his prior professional life within his parent’s practice, Andris Berzins & Associates, as well as practices in Australia and New Zealand.
Having literally ‘grown up’ within, and surrounded by, Architecture (the family business being based in the family home), Nick has been a qualified Architect since 2011. Yet even before that he was working in the practice since he was first able to use a computer or colour in his parents designs.
Nick is also a Part 3 external examiner for Westminster University, as well as a mentor for current Architecture students. He lives in North London with his wife and daughter.
We can highly recommend Nick. His expertise and advice was invaluable to us throughout the process of building our extension. He was always there if we had any queries from start to finish. The schedule of works he produced for us was so important, not just in obtaining accurate quotations from builders, but also having something definitive to work from, and hold contractors accountable to. We highly recommend doing this. We wouldn’t hesitate to use Nick again for future projects.
Nick Berzins was our architect for a recent fairly sizeable extension/ renovation of our home. Nick was amazing in every respect. At the initial stage of the project, he spent a good deal of time with us creating prelim drawings and patiently going through our ideas. He approached our project with creativity, enthusiasm, and flair and, without exaggeration, we have been absolutely delighted with the result: We wanted an extension with a design slightly beyond the ordinary, which would integrate itself well with our garden, and which would allow good use of space and functionality. We could not have hoped for a better design than what Nick offered, we have been really very happy with it. Nick has also been brilliant with his advice regarding planning issues and the choice of builders. We have come to really weigh and value his opinion highly on all the practical matters of our project (as well as the design ones). His drawings were excellent and the builders were able to implement the design with very little modification. Finally, on a personal level, Nick has been really great to interact with. He has been consistently pleasant, personable, and patient and we have come to particularly appreciate his no-nonsense attitude. If we were to do another project, Nick would definitely be our first choice. We have enjoyed working with him and are extremely happy with all the work he did for us.
We have been working with Nick on a large residential project for over a year now. The scope of the project has changed several times for various reasons and Nick has taken this all in his stride. Nick is approachable, down to earth and always listens to our requirements and ideas – in return he offers sound and sensible advice and suggestions. He is a trusted advisor.
In short, Nick is professional, has great attention to detail and is super-responsive. He is a real pleasure to work with and has been extremely supportive on what has been a very challenging project.
The planning and building process can be incredibly overwhelming but Nick is knowledgable, meticulous and has a measured and thoughtful approach to his work which, along with his incredible organisational skills has allowed us to remain focused, calm and on schedule.
There is so much to think about but Nick has great foresight along with an incredible eye for detail so we have been able to implicitly trust him to fill in any knowledge gaps for us and help us make sensible and good decisions along the way (and save some money too!).
He is really supportive and efficient so wherever possible he will make himself available to talk through (and draw through) the pros and cons of the big and small decisions (even the crazy ideas too). This is really invaluable as it has helped us to better understand the space and make good structural and design decisions. We’ve leaned on Nick heavily in this process and that has been incredibly reassuring.
You can clearly see from his high quality of work that Nick cares about and enjoys what he does and depending on your brief he can be as involved or as uninvolved as you need or would want along the way. I would highly recommend Nick for anyone looking for a professional and efficient architect who will partner with them and support them on their project.
